COVID Quarantine : Movie Binges

So, one thing I'm doing, bit-by-bit, during the COVID-19 stay-at-home bit is rewatching the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies in the order they "happen," that is, the chronological order as opposed to the order in which they were released.

I signed up for DisneyPlus back in September, when D23 members were offered the chance to pre-order three years at a cost that worked out to about $3/month. When the service first came online, Pat was texting me in the middle of the morning, asking for the password so he could watch the first episode of The Mandalorian.

Anyway, the chronological order of the movies actually starts with Captain America in the 1940s, then skips 50 years to Captain Marvel before getting to the first of the movies to hit the theaters, Iron Man.

After Iron Man comes the Incredible Hulk, which isn't available on DisneyPlus, due to the rights being owned by Universal Studios. Interesting enough, Mark Ruffalo is a replacement actor for Dr. Banner; this version is played by Edward Norton. He's not the first character to be replaced in the timeline; Lieutanent James "Rhodey" Rhodes, the War Machine, was played by Terrence Howard in the original Iron Man, but Don Cheadle in all the movies afterwards. Two different actors have played Tony Stark's father Howard as well; Dominic Cooper plays the patriach in Captain America, and is seen briefly in Captain America: Winter Soldier, but John Slattery plays the role in Iron Man 2, Ant-Man and every MCU movie afterwards.

So far, I'm just over halfway through, and near the end of Avengers : Age of Ultron. Maybe after this, I'll fill in with some of the MCU-aligned TV series, such as Agent Carter.
